Requirements
  • The incumbent must be able to learn quickly and work independently.

  • The incumbent must work independently, under time constraints and deadlines, with minimal supervision, and prioritize workload effectively.
  • The incumbent must meet daily and weekly productivity standards with acceptable quality assurance results.
  • The incumbent must be proficient in Epic, OnBase, and other required platforms.
  • The incumbent must understand expected reimbursement on accounts to ensure correct payments are received.
  • The incumbent must understand reports provided by leadership as they relate to assigned tasks.
  • The role requires consistent and responsive communication with Patient Access and Coding.
  • Access to sensitive information must be based on need to know and limited to the minimum necessary, with reasonable efforts to protect it from unauthorized access and modification.
Responsibilities
  • Resolve intricate billing edits resulting from previously billed claims and rebill claims successfully.
  • Follow up on No Response work queues and communicate with payers by phone, email, or website platforms.
  • Locate denials and remittances through payer websites.
  • Respond to account denials by rebilling claims with corrected information or submitting appeals with supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external departments, including Coding, to resolve edits and denials.
  • Identify and present payer trends among claims editing for similar reasons and work with leaders to mitigate them.
  • Identify payer trends within denials and work with leaders to reduce denials and minimize aging accounts receivable.
  • Record detailed notes of actions taken on accounts for subsequent follow-up.
  • Navigate payer websites to obtain information and review, understand, and locate payer policy guidelines and claim adjudication details with supporting documentation.
  • Identify accounts requiring placement on payer agendas because they are not being resolved through the normal dispute process, with concentration on accounts receivable over 60 days.
  • Identify and communicate payer trends negatively affecting overall accounts receivable.
  • Communicate with outside departments to resolve billing and follow-up challenges.
  • Identify department trends for management review and participate as requested by leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Coding certification, with collaboration with the Coding department described as complementary and beneficial.
