Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising and/or a related transferable field, including direct solicitation, is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel roughly 40% of the time is required, along with the ability to conduct effective meetings over video and phone when necessary.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
  • Applicants must submit a cover letter in addition to a resume and indicate that they meet the basic qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in individual donor fundraising and volunteer management.
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to collaborate and persuade.
  • Proven interpersonal skills to build and strengthen diverse relationships and to motivate, engage, and work with donors, volunteers, school and university leaders, faculty, and staff.
  • A strong results orientation and a proven track record of setting and achieving ambitious goals.
  • Organizational, prioritization, public speaking, presentation, written communication, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and use sound judgment when interacting with high-level donors, senior administrators, and faculty.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and in a team with professionalism, collegiality, and self-motivation.
  • Computer literacy and experience with Windows and databases are required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase leadership giving for priority funding areas.
  • Identify and qualify potential donors in collaboration with AA&D Research Team colleagues, and work with donors at every stage of engagement.
  • Move prospects toward solicitation and complete assigned solicitations on the agreed-upon timeline, including conducting at least 125 one-on-one visits and building toward securing 20 $25,000-or-more commitments toward HGSE priorities annually.
  • Travel with and provide staffing support for the Dean and faculty members on behalf of fundraising efforts.
  • Plan and execute selected events related to the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of leadership gift prospects and donors in collaboration with others.
  • Write briefings, proposals, donor correspondence, and updates that shape and reflect fundraising strategies, with support and collaboration from colleagues.
  • Participate in group strategy discussions, provide project leadership when requested by management, share information with colleagues, and contribute to HGSE's overall goals as a member of the Development team.
  • Collaborate across the University to identify and engage alumni of other Schools who may be interested in HGSE's work.
  • Work periodically on special projects in collaboration with development and communications colleagues.
  • Achieve annual performance metrics, including visit targets and funding goals set each year.
  • Work with the Development Coordinator to track plans and outreach in the AA&D database, ensure transparency and effective pipeline management, and provide timely follow-up and meeting debriefs.
  • Build knowledge of HGSE and relationships with colleagues across the School by attending campus events and activities, reading HGSE publications, and pursuing professional learning and growth.
