- High school graduation or equivalent with the ability to read and write English.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association.
- Prior experience in a hospital pharmacy or healthcare environment, including nursing home care.
- Computer or personal computer experience.
- Strong human relations and oral communication skills.
- Fill routine orders for unit-of-use and prepacked pharmaceuticals for the 24-hour unit-dose distribution system under the supervision of department management and staff pharmacists.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety standards, environmental control standards, and infection control standards.
- Count, package, and label unit-of-use medication for inspection by a registered pharmacist.
- Fill routine medication orders and assist registered pharmacists as directed, including filling orders and preparing labels.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of intravenous preparations when needed.
- Support the hospital and department in meeting and exceeding continuous quality improvement commitments.
