Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment by correcting unsafe acts and conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents as required.
  • Support development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the food safety system.
  • Work a 3-3-4-4 schedule that rotates from days to nights and nights to days every four months.
  • Assure compliance with the process control system by reviewing line data and verifying data through random sampling.
  • Monitor finished products by inspecting the effectiveness of the quality system, analyzing trends and deviations, and initiating recommendations for improvement.
  • Support plant material and process changes through specialized data and analysis, capability studies, trend analysis, charting techniques, significant testing, and facilitated discussions leading to sound conclusions.
  • Advise production and quality assurance management of significant process deviations; initiate actions to prevent production or shipment of substandard products, isolate defective products, and execute sampling plans to determine fitness for use.
  • Provide specialized laboratory testing by analyzing incoming materials and determining whether finished products meet standards.
  • Calibrate test equipment and ensure it remains in good working order.
  • Initiate activity reports on special investigations, capability studies, and process deviations.
  • Perform safety and good manufacturing practice audits of assigned work areas as needed.
  • Perform personal accuracy reviews with new and existing employees to verify their understanding of product checks and data entry and retrieval as needed.
  • Maintain a toolroom inventory system, inspect new or reworked tooling for conformance to specifications, and develop tooling procedures for cuppers as needed.
  • Support production by tagging pallets at the roller bed as needed.
  • Perform shipping and scheduling of brewing line changes as needed.
  • Handle outside warehouse discrepancies as needed.
  • Tag pallets with production tickets as needed.
  • Facilitate installation and maintenance of established quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain a gauge and inspection equipment control system and calibrate gauges and instruments as required, including initiating requisitions to meet group standards.
  • Interact with vendors and suppliers, maintain inspection reports and quality complaints to identify defect trends, and initiate corrective action through appropriate line or staff leaders.
  • Maintain reports evaluating the quality of designated products in accordance with established quality assurance procedures.
  • Facilitate quality assurance training and development programs.
  • Assist with inspection or testing of materials and products for compliance with specifications.
  • Serve as a customer service liaison by analyzing problems at customer sites regularly.
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
  • Initiate, review, master, and follow standard operating procedures for the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain an employee-relations climate of trust and confidence with employees, union stewards, and representatives to support plant and company goals.
  • Maintain effective work relationships across the department, division, group, and company.
  • Attend environmental management training and comply with hazardous waste and other environmental management requirements.
  • Communicate with the emergency coordinator or environmental focal point/environmental manager regarding environmental management activities.
  • Respond to emergency coordinator directions by following emergency procedures and implementing the contingency plan to the level required by the position.
  • Complete and maintain assigned environmental documentation and report responsibility status to the appropriate environmental coordinators or managers.
  • Recognize waste streams and minimize waste generation through proper material use, disposal, and segregation.
  • Comply with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.

Two Luzerne County firms secure $860K in state energy grants to cut costs and emissions

Two Luzerne County businesses will receive more than $860,000 in state grants for energy efficiency projects. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection awarded Ball Corporation $365,268 and A Rifken Company $495,000 through the RISE PA programme. Ball Corporation will install equipment to capture waste heat for manufacturing, projected to save approximately $75,697 annually. A Rifken Company will replace its solar system with one three times larger, expected to offset 30.4% of the facility's electricity consumption and save roughly $30,654 yearly. The awards form part of nearly $3.5 million distributed to 15 small businesses statewide. RISE PA is a $396 million emissions-reduction programme funded through the US Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Pollution Reduction Grants.

Ball reports Q2 2026 earnings up 14.4% with $1.03 diluted EPS, targets $900M free cash flow

Ball Corporation reported strong second quarter 2026 results, with comparable diluted earnings per share of $1.03, up 14.4% from 90 cents in 2025. Comparable operating earnings rose 7.7% to $433 million from $402 million year-over-year. Global aluminium packaging shipments increased 4.3% in the quarter. The company returned $222 million to shareholders through share repurchases and dividends in the first half of 2026, remaining on track to return at least $800 million by year-end. Ball expects comparable diluted earnings per share growth of more than 10% in 2026 and free cash flow exceeding $900 million. Second quarter sales reached $4.00 billion, compared to $3.34 billion in 2025.
