Requirements
  • The position is part-time, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • One year of supervisory experience in a cafeteria, food service, or dining room facility is required.
  • A valid New Jersey driver's license is required.
  • The ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required.
  • The incumbent must pass and maintain food sanitation tests, such as ServSafe.
  • The incumbent must learn and use computer programs, including a state database, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • The incumbent must carry out recurring assignments independently in accordance with established procedures and policies.
  • The incumbent must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
  • The incumbent must remember oral and written instructions and directions and learn quickly from demonstrations.
  • The incumbent must be able to train and supervise staff, assign suitable work, and provide instructions.
  • The incumbent must be able to ensure that desired objectives are achieved.
  • The incumbent must establish and maintain good employee and participant relationships.
  • The incumbent must write descriptive reports using proper style and format.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operation of a nutrition site serving congregate meals and home-delivered meals.
  • Conduct assessments and reassessments of program participants.
  • Maintain essential records and files.
  • Complete and submit monthly and other required reports.
  • Supervise and train staff to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and guidelines.
  • Ensure food service operations comply with state and local health department standards.
  • Receive and distribute prepared meals and maintain cleanliness of the cafeteria and luncheon area.
  • Supervise and, when necessary, assist with cafeteria manual work, including waiting on tables, delivering and removing eating trays, cleaning serving trays and utensils, cleaning coffee pots, opening cartons, lifting food items, and removing garbage.
  • Record food temperatures accurately and follow food sanitation and safety procedures for receiving, holding, serving, packing out, extra meals, dishwashing, and food portion sizes.
  • Calculate daily meal counts and maintain inventory items.
  • Ensure personnel handling, preparing, and serving food practice hygienic food-handling techniques.
  • Assist with and/or deliver meals to homebound participants.
  • Work at sites assigned according to program needs and relocate when operational needs require a site change.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities.
  • Promote a healthy work environment.
