Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact at the time of hire is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Three years of relevant clinical nursing experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead onboarding and ongoing professional development for nursing staff in the Operating Room at East Madison Hospital, supporting a high-volume, multi-specialty surgical environment.
  • Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive educational programs for intraoperative nursing practice across orthopedic, general, bariatric, minimally invasive, and emerging surgical service lines.
  • Support a dynamic operating room setting performing 40–50 cases daily across 14 operating rooms, with upcoming expansion including additional operating rooms, procedural space, and new specialties such as ENT, ophthalmology, plastics, urology, and gynecology.
  • Collaborate across surgical services, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams to develop curriculum and education that supports safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care.
  • Facilitate onboarding for experienced nurses transitioning into the operating room and support competency development in a technology-driven environment, including robotics and evolving surgical innovations.
  • Serve as a clinical education resource and participate in system-wide initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing Education (preferred).
  • Three years of relevant clinical nursing experience with position-specific patient population (preferred).
  • Three years of experience providing orientation and education for nursing staff in a clinical setting (preferred).
  • Relevant experience in primary and specialty clinic settings for Nursing Education Specialist candidates working in ambulatory areas (preferred).
  • National certification in a relevant specialty (preferred).
