Requirements
  • Completion of an approved ultrasound program is required.
  • Licensure by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and/or Registered Vascular Technologist is required.
  • Basic Life Support cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is required.
  • Extensive experience with ultrasound equipment, including product evaluation, troubleshooting, and quality control, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, interventional ultrasound, and sonographic vascular examinations on outpatients of all ages according to established standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound, interventional ultrasound, and sonographic vascular procedures on inpatients in General, Intermediate Care, and Intensive Care units, both in the department and at the bedside using portable sonography as needed.
  • Maintain technical skills relating to imaging factors.
  • Maintain patient, visitor, physician, and colleague relations.
  • Maintain skills in performing emergency and routine patient care as required.
  • Use proper infection control practices according to the department procedure manual.
  • Monitor equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient department operations.
  • Ensure proper recording and transmission of patient information.
  • Comply with department procedures regarding employee and patient incident reports.
  • Review and recommend equipment and supply purchases.
  • Participate in continuing education, complete mandatory in-service requirements, and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technology.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.

  • A minimum of two years of experience in diagnostic ultrasound is preferred.
