Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field is required.
  • Relevant experience treating high school, club, or intercollegiate participants is preferred.
  • The candidate must be a Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification of Athletic Trainers.
  • Current Arizona licensure is required.
  • The candidate must be certified in CPR, automated external defibrillator use, and first aid.
  • The candidate must support the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission.
Responsibilities
  • Prevent, assess, and treat athletic-related injuries sustained by student athletes.
  • Develop therapeutic exercise protocols including proprioception, strength, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness for injuries sustained by student athletes.
  • Utilize heat, cold, sound, and electrical stimulation modalities to promote wound and injury healing.
  • Render first aid, including wound care and care for life-threatening conditions, to student athletes.
  • Consult the Director of Sports Medicine or athletic trainers before referring student athletes to a medical physician for injuries or illness.
  • Cover assigned teams and events hosted by the university's athletic department.
  • Follow emergency plans for all venues and assist in emergency situations involving acute injuries.
  • Participate in pre-participation physical examinations for all student athletes.
  • Implement baseline concussion testing for designated athletic teams.
  • Provide dietary guidelines to promote health and wellness for student athletes.
  • Maintain complete medical records of student athletes in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Update the required injury-record system for student athletes.
  • Process insurance and billing documents required for student athletes to ensure coverage.
  • Assist with maintaining athletic training room inventory.
  • Assist in the department's drug-testing program.
  • Travel with teams as required.
  • Provide coverage for summer camps and tournaments.
