Intern - Pipeline Integrity

BHE GT&S has an exciting summer internship opportunity for an Electrical, Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering student within our Pipeline Integrity Department at our White Oaks General Office Building in Bridgeport, WV.

Qualified candidates will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Must be a rising junior or senior as of summer of 2026.
• Currently be enrolled in a 4 year ABET accredited Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering Bachelor's degree program.
• Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher (3.0 preference).
• Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to create and work with Word/Excel spreadsheet and reports.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment or independently.
• Good planning and organizing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to articulate technical subject matter both verbally and written.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations.
• Good communications and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and have a strong work ethic.
• Prefer students with active participation in a university engineering organization, especially, in a leadership role.
• Must currently hold a valid driver's license.
• Contribute to a team-centric work environment based on mutual respect and integrity.

Education

Currently enrolled in a 4 year ABET accredited Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering Bachelor's degree program.

Candidate must be a rising junior or senior by summer 2026.

We are seeking highly motivated Engineering students to work within our Pipeline Integrity Department at our White Oaks General Office located in Bridgeport, WV. Some of your responsibilities will include: 

• Perform corrosion record data review and comparison with integrity inline inspection data to aid in identifying gaps or locations needing additional inspections. 
• Reviewing recent close interval survey data and compiling depth of cover data to be included in the Risk Ranking and GIS, developing a process to aid in integrating the data within the GIS, and comparing surveys to determine length for integration into Maximo. 
• Participate in the engineering review of natural gas transmission pipeline safety and compliance measures. 
• Review rectifier measurements to determine end of life on existing ground beds.

Individuals must have a desire to learn and produce as part of a safety conscious workplace. An independent source of transportation for this summer 2026 internship is needed as there is limited public transportation options in the area.

Your summer internship will be a minimum of 8 weeks on site (June 1 - July 24).  Please note: the internship could be extended for up to 11 weeks considering your summer schedule and the needs of the business, with a preference to begin in early to mid-May if possible. 

Successful candidates who are 50 miles or more from the assigned work location may be eligible for a one-time housing stipend.
