Requirements

  • Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge are required.
  • Access to a phone at all times is required.
  • The ability to complete basic mathematical calculations is required.
  • The role requires the ability to meet the stated physical demands, including frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, bending, squatting or kneeling, and lifting 51–100 pounds frequently and over 100 pounds occasionally.
  • The role requires near, distance, color, peripheral, and depth-perception vision; the ability to hear emergency sounds, intercoms, and fan motors; senses of smell and touch; and the ability to wear personal protective equipment, including back belts when unloading and lifting heavy products or objects.
  • The position is subject to pre-employment background and drug screening.
Responsibilities
  • Operate the store successfully to achieve sales and profit objectives established by the operating budget.
  • Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Monitor sales activities to ensure satisfactory customer service and quality goods.
  • Assign employees to specific duties.
  • Direct and supervise employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, and customer services.
  • Inventory stock and reorder merchandise when inventory drops to a specified level.
  • Keep records of purchases, sales, and requisitions.
  • Enforce safety, health, and security rules.
  • Examine products received for resale or storage to assess their condition.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate, promote, demote, and terminate store employees when necessary.
  • Ensure employees understand and follow company policies and standards.
  • Measure performance, evaluate employees, and take corrective action.
  • Instruct staff on handling difficult and complicated sales.
  • Achieve employee productivity, sales objectives, and profit objectives through example and leadership.
  • Examine merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced, displayed, and functioning as advertised.
  • Plan and maintain employee work schedules, time cards, and related records.
  • Organize, calculate, and accurately enter daily sales information for the corporate office.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local competition.
  • Confer with company officials to develop methods and procedures to increase sales, expand markets, and promote the business.
  • Control store expenses.
  • Plan budgets and authorize payments and merchandise returns.
  • Provide adequate supervision to reduce losses from theft.
  • Maintain and preserve company property.
  • Prevent overstocks and out-of-stocks through accurate product ordering.
  • Develop a favorable customer image through store cleanliness, attractiveness, and employee conduct.
  • Review and monitor scheduled shift hours.
  • Comply with city, county, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist in areas requiring attention or assign employees to complete tasks.
  • Record all sales at the time of purchase.
  • Record markups, markdowns, spoilage, and store use of merchandise according to company policy.
  • Verify previous-day money, calculate the daily deposit, and sign off on the office count.
  • Prepare accurate end-of-week reports or ensure trained employees complete them.
  • Record and verify employee hours worked using the computer, time card report, and time-punch report.
  • Total time-punch reports accurately so employees are paid correctly.
  • Verify and close out payroll.
  • Ensure new employees on each shift are trained.
  • Maintain warning notices reflecting employees’ continuous performance records.
  • Advise the supervisor of personnel situations or policy violations negatively affecting store operations.
  • Check all equipment for proper working condition.
  • Control payroll within budget guidelines.
  • Enforce correct vendor check-in procedures.
  • Keep the safe locked at all times.
  • Maintain a low cash drawer and use the safe according to company policy.
  • Open and close the store.
  • Complete shift-checkout reports at the appropriate times.
  • Notify the supervisor immediately if a daily bank deposit is not made.
  • Share responsibility for controlling store inventory.
  • Order and maintain merchandise to prevent out-of-stocks.
  • Build and maintain sellable displays.
  • Prepare and maintain perishable foods according to company standards.
  • Keep coolers, shelves, and displays full and fronted.
  • Clean and maintain store equipment.
  • Perform other job-related tasks requested by management staff.
  • Open and close the store on time according to the management schedule.
