Requirements
  • Ability to work in the United States on an indefinite basis without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, weld symbols, material specifications, and assembly requirements.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ability to analyze quality data, identify trends, and drive corrective actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day quality engineering support to in-house assembly operations.
  • Address quality issues, nonconformances, and deviation requests in support of production activities.
  • Participate in production readiness, process changes, and new product or configuration introductions.
  • Review engineering drawings and technical documentation for completeness and clarity, including dimensional requirements and tolerances, material specifications, weld symbols and inspection requirements, and special process and surface-finish callouts.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to resolve drawing gaps, ambiguities, and quality risks before release.
  • Analyze incoming inspection results, supplier quality data, and nonconforming-material trends.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, and Engineering to resolve supplier-related quality issues.
  • Support evaluation and approval of deviations, concessions, and waivers to ensure reliability and risk requirements are met.
  • Analyze quality reports, defect data, scrap, rework, and field feedback to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead structured root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities using recognized methodologies.
  • Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions for effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Support continuous-improvement initiatives aligned with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks.
  • Ensure quality records, corrective-action documentation, and inspection plans are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal procedures and applicable standards.
  • Verify that corrective actions and deviations meet defined reliability, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Support internal, customer, and supplier audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve quality and production issues.
  • Provide guidance, technical support, and on-the-job training to junior Quality Engineers, inspectors, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Communicate quality performance, risks, and improvement progress to stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of gears and power-transmission components.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy, including material properties, heat treatment, and failure modes.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, weld-quality requirements, and inspection methods.
  • Knowledge of surface coatings and paint systems, including preparation, application, and defect analysis.
  • Knowledge of welding standards, including AWS and ASME.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality-management systems.
  • Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous-improvement training.

Sandvik has partnered with Rio Tinto to integrate its i-series surface drill rigs with Rio Tinto's Autonomous Drilling System. The collaboration will combine Sandvik's AutoMine automation technology with Rio Tinto's remote operations expertise to improve safety, productivity and system interoperability in open-pit mining. Development will be managed through Rio Tinto's Perth Operations Centre, beginning with testing at Sandvik's facility in Finland. Field trials will follow at Rio Tinto's Western Australian operations to evaluate performance against production targets. The project leverages existing autonomous infrastructure at Rio Tinto's iron ore sites and aligns with both companies' expansion plans, including Sandvik's recent copper mine equipment orders and Rio Tinto's $1.5 billion Quebec smelter expansion, due to complete by end-2026.

Sandvik reports $3B revenue, 23% order intake growth in Q1 2026

Swedish engineering group Sandvik reported strong first-quarter results for 2026, with order intake rising 23% to SEK 36.8 billion and revenues increasing 15% to SEK 30.7 billion, both at fixed exchange rates and organically. The company's adjusted EBITA margin improved to 20.0% from 19.7% in the prior year period, whilst adjusted EBIT margin reached 18.6%, up from 18.0%. Adjusted profit before tax rose to SEK 5.5 billion from SEK 5.0 billion.
