Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor of Science degree, 10+ years with a Master of Science degree, 8+ years with a PhD or PharmD, or 4+ years with a Doctor of Medicine degree.
  • An advanced scientific degree is required; a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, or Doctor of Pharmacy is strongly preferred.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or related healthcare field.
  • Knowledge of health economics and outcomes research disciplines, basic biostatistics, and evidence-based medicine, including research methodology, clinical protocol development, and clinical reports.
  • Knowledge of the United States healthcare system, healthcare delivery, biotechnology drug and device development, the United States healthcare landscape, integrated delivery networks, health systems, managed markets, health economics and outcomes research, and disease management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Significant clinical and/or pharmaceutical industry experience in oncology and/or HIV.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, managed care, or a similar organization.
  • A history of relationships with academic health centers and oncology health system stakeholders within the position region.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the medical interface among key HIV and oncology health systems, academic medical centers, group purchasing organizations, and pathway accounts.
  • Develop sustainable enterprise customer relationships and communicate comprehensive clinical, scientific, health economic and outcomes research, real-world evidence, and patient-reported outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain access to key account stakeholders to facilitate appropriate scientific interchange for Gilead HIV and oncology innovations and pipeline assets, with priority placed on launch products.
  • Develop strategic medical plans and tactics for assigned accounts.
  • Implement customer-specific real-world evidence data generation and work with patient access, strategy, and quality-of-care teams to interpret and disseminate data assessing and communicating the medical value of Gilead’s portfolio.
  • Work with Commercial Oncology Key Account Directors and HIV Institutional Account Directors regarding external stakeholder needs and engagements.
  • Work with Therapeutic Area Medical Science Liaisons, Clinical Development, Clinic Operations, and home-office medical matrix teams to facilitate scientific product exchange.
  • Develop medical strategy for assigned accounts as it relates to patient access, the evolving healthcare environment, and customers.
  • Communicate approved clinical, scientific, and outcomes data and accurately respond to customer questions during scientific exchanges in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Gain insights into formulary, policy, reimbursement, outcomes and real-world evidence research, key-account needs, pathway decision-making, cost-effectiveness, healthcare value, quality of life, quality of care, and patient healthcare needs.
  • Interpret and communicate account insights to the appropriate medical matrix teams.
  • Create inclusion, develop talent, and empower teams through coaching, feedback, goal alignment, and barrier removal.

  • More than 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, managed care, or a similar organization.
  • A PhD or additional degree or training in health economics, health outcomes, public health, or health policy.
  • Strong leadership in developing and executing medical account strategy related to patient access, customer engagement, matrix collaboration, and the evolving healthcare landscape.
  • Experience partnering with medical affairs, field-based therapeutic medical science liaisons, health economics and outcomes research, commercial, market access, and account management teams, as well as external medical thought leaders and healthcare decision-makers.

Gilead raises 2026 outlook on HIV and PrEP strength, targets $30B in sales
