Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with post-high-school training or related work experience.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment, including a fax machine, photocopier, and calculator, and demonstrate basic computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, initiate follow-up actions, work cooperatively with others, and adapt to changing work practices, procedures, and processes.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, use good judgment, follow direction, carry out orders, adhere to organizational policies and procedures, and comply with ethical and confidentiality standards, including HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize work, complete assignments in a timely manner, meet established guidelines, multitask, and gather data from appropriate resources.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble and maintain patient records, file data, and obtain reports and data necessary for departmental operations.
  • Greet and assist visitors courteously.
  • Answer phones courteously.
  • Record and relay messages accurately.
  • Locate key personnel to direct calls and respond to inquiries.
  • Make appointments and book rooms as necessary.
  • Prepare and distribute outgoing reports by email and interdepartmental mail.
  • Maintain department reports.
  • Operate office machines, including a photocopier, fax machine, and computer.
  • Order materials, supplies, forms, and services, and complete records and reports.
  • Use clinical and patient information systems to support the delivery of patient care.
  • Assist in implementing specialized projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certification with the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators is preferred.
  • At least one year of healthcare or clerical experience is preferred.
