Requirements
  • Cloud Architecture Proficiency: Extensive understanding and hands-on experience with cloud architectures, specifically in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Database Expertise: In-depth knowledge of popular database and data warehouse technologies, including but not limited to BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Snowflake, as well as conventional RDBMS systems.
  • Data Processing Knowledge: Strong understanding of cloud-based batch and stream processing architectures, enabling effective data ingestion and processing strategies.
  • Data Modeling Experience: Proven experience in enterprise-scale data modeling, ensuring robust data structures that support business intelligence and analytics.
  • Distributed Systems Understanding: Solid grasp of distributed systems architecture, enabling the design and implementation of scalable, reliable solutions.
  • Data Quality Management: Experience in data quality processes, including data cleansing, audits, alerts, triage mechanisms, and ensuring referential integrity.
  • Programming Skills: Proficient in multiple object-oriented programming languages, preferably Java and Python; familiarity with Scala and Go is a plus.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Azure Architect.
  • Leadership Experience: Interest or experience in people management, ideally in a “player-coach” leadership style, fostering team growth and collaboration.
  • CI/CD and IaC Proficiency: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, and configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
  • Monitoring and Observability Familiarity: Knowledge of cloud monitoring and observability tools, such as Google Cloud Operations Suite, AWS CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile project management practices, contributing to adaptive and iterative project execution.
  • Application Development Expertise: Proven experience in developing and migrating applications using microservices architecture, leveraging frameworks such as Spring Boot, Node.js, or similar, with a strong focus on cloud-native design principles.
Responsibilities
  • Provide expert support for the Customer Engineer group and manage complex multi-tech solutions and sales conversations that require multiple technologies.
  • Prepare and give customer pitches as well as review SOWs prepared by Customer Engineers.
  • Identify and promote project accelerators internally.
  • Develop solutions and reference architectures for application modernization, including transitioning legacy systems to microservices-based architectures and cloud-native platforms.
  • Provide expert support for the Customer Engineer group, focusing on application development strategies, modernization, and migration efforts.
  • Prepare and give customer pitches that highlight app modernization capabilities, such as leveraging containerization, service orchestration, and cloud-native design principles.
  • Review SOWs prepared by Customer Engineers to ensure they include robust app development and modernization strategies tailored to client needs.
  • Identify and promote internal project accelerators, such as reusable frameworks for microservices, containerization, and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Provide oversight of major projects until the project is successfully underway and remain engaged as necessary.
  • Be the thought leader on project and stay connected with the most senior customer person on the project.
  • Work with project team to identify and implement creative solutions to issues.
  • Be able to explain technical details, issues, and solutions to technical and non-technical project stakeholders.
  • Assemble, document and deliver workshop output. Lead and train others to deliver workshops.
  • Continue to evolve Pythian’s knowledge of solutions including update patterns as technologies change, provide and communicate rationale for changes and new patterns.
  • Research new technologies, including but not limited to those from Google and other cloud vendors and ensure that the appropriate people in the company know what they are, their pros and cons, and how they can be used.
  • Produce regular thought leadership content for external audiences such as blog posts, webinars, and white papers.
  • Work with offerings teams to develop new offerings. Become a leader in promoting new offerings internally and externally.
  • Develop trusted relationships with the appropriate partners to demonstrate our knowledge to them and to encourage a stronger referral network from them.
  • Participate in calls to assess new possible partners. Review and assess complementary technologies.
  • Develop and/or work with teams/experts to create thought leadership content specific to the needs of the assigned accounts.
  • Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews.
