Requirements
  • This role is a paid 40 hour per week internship program with on-site work at the store location(s) in the Lexington or Louisville area; there is no relocation offered for this position.
  • Ability to keep a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak shopping times; reliable attendance is required.
  • Ability to access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues; interpret instructions, reports, and information; accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
  • Ability to climb ladders as needed; frequent lifting or moving merchandise up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 444 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Work hours primarily on-site and in a retail store environment; maintain safety policies and best practices; follow Target safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Spending time on the store sales floor and backroom leading amongst team members and aligning the team on daily business priorities.
  • Working alongside an Executive Team Lead mentor and other leaders to understand roles and store operations.
  • Leading daily priorities such as stocking shelves, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and helping build displays.
  • Partnering with leaders regarding team member performance by teaching, coaching, training, and providing timely performance feedback.
  • Addressing team member concerns and removing hurdles to ensure smooth operations and goal attainment.
  • Leading or presenting at daily huddles with peer/leadership team.
  • Planning daily goals and organizing plans within the building.
  • Providing summaries of results and priorities to peer/leadership team; working with store leaders to set goals and expectations.
  • Reviewing business reporting and guest insights to identify opportunities and follow up; collaborating with store leaders on goals and expectations.
  • Delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring team members are knowledgeable and empowered to assist guests.
  • Providing new ideas and recommendations to address business or team opportunities.
  • Taking initiative to learn Target leadership expectations and pursue growth and development; engaging in internship training activities and events.
  • Demonstrating ethical conduct, safety, and compliance and leading the team to uphold these standards.
  • Working safely and identifying hazards; complying with safety policies and best practices; fostering an inclusive, equitable, safe, and secure culture.
  • Carrying out principal duties by department and developing a broad understanding of all business areas to build business acumen.
  • Creating a welcoming guest experience and engaging with guests to address their needs; thanking guests for shopping at Target.
  • All other duties based on business needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong interest in working in retail management; leadership skills and team-oriented thinking; willingness to learn and adapt to current technology needs; ability to work independently and as part of a team; effective communication skills; welcoming and helpful attitude.
