Summary

- Designs and analyzes Spiral Groove Liquid Metal bearing (hydro-dynamic bearing) mechanical systems, equipment and packaging

- Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs

- Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication

- Provides design information to drafting for product and materials documentation.

Job Description

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledgeable in the design, analysis, and integration of spiral-groove liquid metal bearings (hydrodynamic bearings).
• Experienced in prediction and control of load bearing & rotor dynamic performance characteristics (resonance, vibration, balancing, and journal bearing whirl/stability)
• Experienced in the interactions of gallium alloys with both steel and moly-based construction bearings.
• Hands-on/Direct experience with successful LMB design and integration.
• Tribology of liquid metal bearings
• Experienced with Solidworks and GD&T.

Education and Experience

• B.S. in Engineering
• 5+ years of related experience
