Crystal Mountain is seeking passionate and professional Part-Time Ski & Snowboard Instructors to join our dynamic Ski & Ride School team. As an instructor, you will create a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment for guests of all ages and ability levels. You’ll also play a big role in extending the reach of guest services by acting as a resource for guests who have questions about their visit to Crystal Mountain, like where to dine, get some merch, or what trail to try next. Instructors spend more time one-on-one with our guests than almost anyone else on the Crystal Mountain staff, so your impact on their experience is significant! Whether teaching first-time riders or helping advanced guests refine their skills, you’ll play a key role in delivering unforgettable mountain experiences and fostering a lifelong love of snow sports.
Provide high-quality snowboard instruction in private & group settings across all ages & ability levels
Align with Crystal Mountain SRS teaching philosophies and progressions covered during training
Act as a guest service resource when approached by guests with generic Crystal Mountain Resort questions
Level guests during lineup through engaging questions and conversations
Communicate leveling information to supervisors for group organization in a clear & timely fashion
Create a supportive, guest-focused, and experiential learning environment during all lessons
Assess student abilities through movement analysis, then tailor instruction to individual needs and goals.
Ensure safety and enjoyment of all students through effective terrain management, lesson pacing, and adherence to resort policies.
Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, parents, and fellow instructors.
Manage physical & emotional needs of children during Kid’s Learning Center based lessons (ages 4-12)
Support Ski & Ride School operations as needed (e.g., assisting with lineup & scanning, setting up and taking down fencing, helpingwith morning operations in the Kid’s Learning Center).
Comply with supervisor instructions relating to lesson start/finish times, end of lesson check-ins, and any other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Approve/Dispute your timesheet in flaikafter every shift by the communicated deadline
Maintain a professional and approachable attitude at all times.
Stay current with teaching methods, techniques, and Crystal Mountain policies.
Seek professional development through Crystal Mountain trainings and/or external PSIA-AASI opportunities
Represent Crystal Mountain and the Alterra Mountain Company brand with integrity and enthusiasm.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Willingness to work as much, or more, with children as adults
Prior experience working with 4-12 year olds in educational settings highly preferred
Must have strong customer service skills to be able to effectively communicate with people of all ages.
Able to take direction and work well in a team environment.
Intermediate skiing or riding ability with a strong desire to learn and be trained
Any previous teaching, coaching or mentoring experience is a strong plus.
PSIA/AASI Snowboard Level 1 Certification, or higher, is preferred but not required
Available to work a minimum of 15 days per season (including some weekends/holidays), with 4 required days of on-snow training for candidates with no prior snowboard instruction experience
Available to attend a paid mandatory employee orientation taking place on a weekend in early November
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays while in operation.
Able to work 15 days per season.
Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Auditory and visual acuity to communicate with computers, phones, and/or mobile devices.
Ability to work for extended periods of time on your snowboard standing, sliding, bending, and/or reaching.
Able to spend long periods outside in varying weather conditions without breaks. (Minimum 2 hours)
