Who we are looking for
State Street Corporation is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic AVP – Quality Assurance Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a candidate with an ETL background who can seamlessly transition between frontend and backend testing, working across various technologies and financial systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Azure, Snowflake, ESP, Oracle, Sybase, as well as some exposure to Java automation, and a deep understanding of ETL processes.
As an AVP, you will lead quality assurance efforts, ensuring the performance and functionality of financial applications and systems. You will work in an Agile environment and collaborate with both onshore and offshore teams to deliver high-quality results across the entire software development lifecycle. You should have the ability to manage both backend data validation and front-end user interface testing with a focus on achieving seamless, high-performance solutions.
What you will be responsible for
- Lead the end-to-end quality assurance process for financial applications, covering both frontend (UI) and backend (data, ETL) testing, ensuring applications meet business and functional requirements.
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, cases, and scripts for frontend (UI) and backend systems, including ETL processes, database validation, and cloud integration.
- Leverage Azure, Snowflake, and cloud environments to execute tests, monitor data integrity, and ensure system performance.
- Work with ETL tools and platforms to validate data flow, data transformations, and ensure accuracy and consistency of information between systems.
- Conduct database testing with Oracle and Sybase, executing SQL queries and performing data validation to ensure ETL processes are functioning as expected.
- Ensure the frontend application is thoroughly tested for usability, performance, and consistency with the backend data and business logic.
- Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams, including developers, product owners, and business analysts, to clarify testing objectives and business requirements.
- Lead the implementation and execution of automated testing frameworks, including experience with Java automation tools such as Selenium or TestNG for both UI and backend testing.
- Participate in and facilitate continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to integrate testing into the deployment pipeline.
- Support an offshore-onshore work culture, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and timely delivery of testing efforts across geographies.
- Identify and report issues, defects, and discrepancies in a clear, concise manner, and track them through to resolution.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior QA analysts, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, testing tools, and technologies to continuously improve QA processes.
Education and preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance roles, with significant experience in both ETL testing and full-stack testing (frontend and backend).
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure, Snowflake, ESP, Oracle, and Sybase.
- Extensive experience in validating ETL processes, data flows, transformations, and ensuring data accuracy in large-scale systems.
- Hands-on experience with Java automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, JUnit), including automating both frontend and backend tests.
- Strong experience in backend testing (database validation, data integrity checks, and ETL data validation) as well as frontend testing (UI, functional, usability, and regression testing).
- Deep understanding of relational databases and hands-on experience writing complex SQL queries to verify data transformations, accuracy, and system functionality.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working within an Agile team.
- Strong experience working in offshore-onshore work cultures, with the ability to manage remote teams and coordinate across geographies effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior QA professionals, while maintaining a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving work environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Experience working with financial applications or platforms (e.g., trading systems, portfolio management systems).
- Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter or LoadRunner).
- Certifications in QA or software testing is a plus (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).
- Knowledge of CI/CD processes and integration of testing into deployment pipelines.
