  • Applicants must be nurse graduates who are board eligible from an accredited school of nursing.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in Nursing or a nursing diploma is required.
  • All nurse graduates must obtain a valid nursing license within 120 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of clinical nursing care procedures and protocols is required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Interpersonal skills are required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer systems, tools, and programs are required.
  • The ability to work in a team environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse until obtaining a Mississippi Board of Nursing license.
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care delegated by the registered nurse in a safe and therapeutic manner after demonstrating competency.
  • Record vital signs, intake, outputs, pulse oximetry, and weights accurately and report changes to the registered nurse.
  • Assist and prepare patients for treatment, examinations, and procedures as directed by the registered nurse.
  • Administer and perform baths and basic hygiene measures as directed by the registered nurse.
  • Assist with the collection and timely delivery of specimens to appropriate laboratories.
  • Weigh, lift, turn, and reposition patients using good body mechanics.
  • Submit proper patient charges for supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner and report equipment requiring repair to the nurse manager or charge nurse.
  • Assist in serving dietary trays and feed patients as needed.
  • Provide and document care based on patients' expectations, age, and developmental level.
  • Adhere to the University of Mississippi Medical Center's infection control policy.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education and in-service programs.
