Responsibilities
  • Log and prepare files for import.
  • Monitor vessel schedules and shipment milestones daily, provide timely status updates, and communicate delays or schedule changes to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Process shipment settlements and communicate with origin and internal teams to provide timely updates and resolve operational or financial issues.
  • Review and update trouble reports, monitor customs clearance issues and other shipment holds, investigate root causes, and communicate status updates and resolution plans to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain a smooth and efficient freight process flow, ensuring all shipments move in a timely manner.
  • Use the ocean import workboard daily to ensure all processes are properly maintained and completed.
  • Provide timely updates on shipment status, delays, or exceptions.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external communications using a polite and professional approach.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in customer and internal calls as needed to gather and understand key information.
  • Create and maintain OneNote documentation for assigned responsibilities, keeping information current and available to support training and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for new accounts, updating processes and information to reflect changes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing by regularly reviewing the BNP list and confirming that all required items are included.
  • Complete required training hours and attend additional training sessions as needed.
  • Take ownership of issues by analyzing and working toward solutions and escalating appropriately to leadership when needed.
  • Support team projects and share relevant information with colleagues.
  • Meet key performance indicator standards according to company procedures.

Expeditors beats Q2 estimates with $3.5B revenue, up 32% year-on-year

Expeditors International reported second-quarter revenue of $3.50 billion, up 32.1% year on year and beating analyst estimates of $2.95 billion by 18.6%. The logistics and freight forwarding company also posted GAAP earnings of $2.03 per share, exceeding consensus estimates of $1.69 by 19.9%. Operating margin held steady at 10% compared to the same quarter last year. However, free cash flow margin declined to 4.8% from 6.2% in the year-ago period. The company's board declared a semi-annual dividend of $0.81 per share, payable on 15 June to shareholders of record as of 1 June. Expeditors has returned nearly $2 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases since 2024. Analysts project revenue growth of 1.1% over the next 12 months.

Expeditors International cuts 230 tech jobs, abandoning longstanding no-layoff policy

Expeditors International, a Washington-based freight forwarder, is cutting 230 employees by the end of the year, marking a departure from its longstanding no-layoff policy. The reductions affect the company's US global technology department across five offices in Washington state. According to a WARN notice filed Monday, the Seattle office will lose 68 employees, Federal Way 66, and Lynnwood 59. Separations began 8 August and will be finalised by 31 December. The cuts represent 15.4% of Expeditors' information systems branch, which employed 1,498 workers as of 31 March, and 1.1% of the company's total 20,361 staff. Affected positions include software developers, quality assurance engineers, project managers and business analysts. The company recently updated its corporate history page to describe its "short-term no layoff policy" rather than simply "no layoff policy".

The layoffs span five locations, including Bellevue, Federal Way, Lynnwood, Seattle, and Airway Heights, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing. The WARN notice submitted by Senior Vice President Courtney Hawkins noted that the layoffs are a result of workplace restructuring, which involves the company's U.S. Global Technology Department. Breaking down the Bellevue company's layoffs by location. All 230 employees were notified of the layoffs on Monday, with the first date for separations anticipated to be Aug. 8 and all separations completed by Dec. 31. A vast majority of the impacted positions included developers, along with team and project managers, and other administrative positions. Expeditors has been recognized on the Fortune 500 list since 2006, and is a service-based logistics company that generates "highly optimized and customized" supply chain solutions for its clients across a network of more than 335 locations in 100 countries and six continents, according to Expeditors. The company is currently headquartered in Bellevue at 3545 Factoria Boulevard S.E., where roughly 35 employees were impacted. Expeditors International surges 39% as Wall Street holds mixed outlook on $20.7B logistics giant

Expeditors International, a global logistics provider with a $20.7 billion market cap, has outperformed the broader market with shares rising 39.4% over the past 52 weeks, compared to the S&P 500's 27.9% gain. The Bellevue, Washington-based company surged 9.6% on 5 May after reporting strong Q1 2026 results, including a 16% increase in earnings per share to $1.71 and 4% revenue growth to $2.8 billion. The company delivered double-digit revenue growth across customs brokerage, distribution and order management businesses, whilst airfreight tonnage increased 5%, offsetting a 4% decline in ocean freight volumes. Analysts project fiscal year 2026 earnings per share to rise 11.9% to $6.66. Among 15 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is "hold".
