Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion

  • Capable of heavy lifting, bending, climbing ladders, sitting, pushing/pulling, etc.
  • Must be able to use hand trucks, pallet jacks, and basic hand and electric tools
  • The job requires traveling outside the University under variable weather conditions on hazardous roads and traffic conditions
  • Must adhere to all safety standards as established by the University
  • Individual is expected to exercise good judgment when faced with tasks of setting priorities if more than one assignment is given at once
  • Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered
Responsibilities
  • Contacts appropriate staff or department to verify order or shipment requirements
  • Schedules outbound shipments, coordinating pickup times with trucking companies to ensure on-time delivery
  • Ensures appropriate paperwork is completed and accompanies each shipment
  • Confirms exceptions and unusual deliveries, and tracks orders back to originator internally to verify
  • Receives and unpacks materials and supplies
  • Reports damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes
  • Communicates shipment schedule changes tactfully and adjusts shipping forecasts
  • Logs and tracks vendor non-compliances, such as short shipments, incorrect shipments, and early or late shipments
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
  • Lift and move heavy items such as office and lab furniture, miscellaneous equipment
  • Load and unload trucks and perform manual labor
  • Estimate work, tracks time of the moving crew and supervise their performance
  • Keep track of receiving/moving paperwork
  • Responsible for keeping all the above equipment in good working condition
  • Plans, organizes and schedule work orders
  • Takes inventory of the equipment
  • Reports any mechanical problems with moving trucks
  • Assign work orders and set priorities
  • Other duties as assigned
