Credit Karma is transforming its business through an innovative platform called Lightbox. Lightbox enables our partners to build and deploy targeting models in Credit Karma’s Model Building Environment. This, in conjunction with other Lightbox platform capabilities, provides partners with the ability to make real time, customized, higher-certainty offers to our 100 million plus members upon login. While the capability is currently focused on our credit cards, personal loans, and auto lending businesses, we have ambitions to scale this one-of-a-kind tech across even more of our businesses.
The Lightbox team is looking for a Director, Partner Decision Science to help partners grow their Lightbox programs, driving higher revenue and share of wallet for Credit Karma. This role will report directly to the Head of Lightbox and will work with cross functional internal teams (Data, Product, Engineering, BD) and data science & risk leaders at partner financial institutions.
What you’ll do:
- Be the critical bridge between lending partners and the Credit Karma platform. Help some of the biggest financial institutions in the country optimize their credit and marketing strategies for Credit Karma
- Attract, build and mentor a strong team of data scientists who work hand-in-hand both with the internal product and engineering teams, as well as partner credit teams. Grow their careers
- Build strong relations with credit, marketing, and data science teams at financial institutions, ranging from hands-on data scientists to C-level executives
- Influence Credit Karma’s product and engineering teams to iterate on the Lightbox platform roadmap to make Lightbox even more valuable to Credit Karma and our lending partners
- Guide model building and analytics processes in our partner financial institutions, in order to achieve optimal results. Coach partner risk teams on capabilities provided by the CK platform, while being in their shoes and speaking their language.
- Manage multiple teams of data scientists and risk professionals focused on driving Lightbox adoption in specific verticals such as credit cards and personal loans
Minimum Basic Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as math, statistics, or economics, from an accredited college or university
- At least 10 years of experience in underwriting, originations, data science, or risk management at one or more financial institutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as math, statistics, or economics
- Proven track record of creating and implementing company-wide data strategies from a risk management or business perspective
- Experience in managing relationships and partnering with credit bureaus, media technologies, or other third-party data providers/sources
- Comfortable working with complex data environments and with big data and machine learning techniques
- Experience in working across verticals at financial institutions such as Personal Loans, Auto Loans and Mortgage
- Experience leading and managing a team of data scientists and risk professionals

Pay Transparency Notice: Credit Karma’s mission of championing financial progress for all starts from within. That’s why we implemented role-based compensation, which ensures people who are in the same role receive the same pay with variations for geographic location only. It’s all part of a more comprehensive DEI strategy that helps level the playing field. The base salary range for this role is $287,711 to $302,567, plus equity and benefits.
