Requirements
  • The nurse must hold a current license in the state of Maryland.
  • The nurse must hold current CPR certification.
  • At least 6 months of nursing experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.
  • The nurse must be able to build rapport with patients.
  • The nurse must have a compassionate and caring demeanor.
  • The nurse must be familiar with medical terminology.
  • The nurse must be able to work well in teams.
  • The nurse must pass the preemployment screening process, including a fitness-for-duty physical, criminal background check, drug test, and employment references as required by a licensed residential care facility.
Responsibilities
  • Provide overall nursing care and services during the assigned shift.
  • Supervise the direct care of residents and nursing personnel during the assigned shift.
  • Administer direct care as necessary.
  • Administer prescribed medications to patients accurately and promptly.
  • Make rounds to ensure that proper care is rendered in a safe and clean environment.
  • Keep physicians and families informed of changes in residents' conditions.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive care plans.
  • Maintain each resident's self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all care rendered.
  • Respond to the resident emergency call system.
  • Interface with other disciplines to ensure continuity of care and services.
  • Accompany physicians during rounds.
  • Encourage restorative care to maximize resident independence.
  • Participate in family and resident counseling as necessary.
  • Assist with the orientation and evaluation of nursing personnel.
  • Attend assigned in-service training and education sessions.
  • Ensure proper functioning of equipment and adequate supplies.
