Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Five years of acute care clinical experience.
  • Ability to perform medical record review, data extraction and aggregation, computer data entry using internet-based software, and simple calculations.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and report data to departments and hospital committees.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard, monitor, and mouse; answer telephones and transcribe messages; and communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically with healthcare personnel, families, and patients.
  • Ability to meet the Department of Labor's medium duty standard and perform bending, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking for an 8-10 hour shift.
  • Ability to work various shifts based on departmental and patient needs and travel between facilities or buildings.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate quality improvement, quality assurance, and patient safety activities to maintain and improve patient care services.
  • Perform concurrent and retrospective quality review studies using electronic and hard copy medical record review, data extraction and aggregation, computer data entry using internet-based software, and simple calculations.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report data to appropriate departments and hospital committees.
  • Lead and direct quality reviews, ORYX/Core Measures/Performance Measures, and other performance initiatives, maintaining competency with Premier Quality software.
  • Interact with physicians and staff to improve documentation for data extraction for required Core Measures and other performance and quality measures.
  • Create reports for the Performance Improvement Committee and other assigned committees based on quarterly data.
  • Investigate and follow through on patient and family complaints received in Quality and Risk Management and provide feedback to patients and families when necessary.
  • Assist with Performance Improvement at CHI by facilitating root cause analysis.
  • Assist with Joint Commission activities.
  • Assist with policy revision and development.
  • Document consistently to ensure supplies and medications are accurately charged.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Data analysis experience with a background in one or more of Quality, Patient Safety, Risk Management, or Joint Commission.
