Requirements
  • Degree level in an engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace) discipline
  • Strong communication skills, technical competency, and skills with project management concepts/tools
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, prepare, and review high-level certification documentation (Type Certification Basis, Certification Plans, Certification Review Items, reports, checklists, and schedules)
  • Support the up front development, interpretation, and understanding of customer type certification requirements through the understanding and application of relevant regulations and airworthiness codes
  • Analyze and recommend certification requirements for their applicability to new products and changes to type design (facilitating major/minor change determination and use of the changed product rule)
  • Track requirements allocation and compliance showings/findings to ensure all certification requirements and regulatory obligations have been met using the rational Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), tool
  • Assist with the development of Test and Acceptance (Means of Compliance) criteria for certification requirements
  • Work with various disciplines to ensure timely completion of certification milestones
  • Facilitate communication between Boeing Defence UK (BDUK), the Customer and the UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Certification Division to ensure efficient issue resolution in a timely manner
  • Prepare responses to the Customer and the MAA, including technical positions, in support of project Issue Papers and Certification Review Items
  • Apply UK MAA Regulatory requirements for continued airworthiness to UK Fixed Wing programmes
  • Liaise with other Boeing organizational entities and assist with the assembly of plans and approaches to meet UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), requirements for type validation of products certified by other military or civil National Aviation Authorities
  • Provide full support on programme MAA audit and plan and manage any closure of findings and observations in a timely manner
  • Provide specialist airworthiness engineering support to new programme stand up and development of type certification and continued airworthiness approaches
  • Working with other functions to provide the complete life-cycle requirements, and continued airworthiness requirements in particular
  • Assist with airworthiness reviews of aircraft undergoing modifications
  • Contribute to Statements of Work (SOW) for 3rd party activities
  • Identify risks, issues and opportunities and assist with the development of mitigation plans
  • Compile engineering estimates for the airworthiness and certification group
  • Assist with engineering resource planning and generating staffing forecasts
  • Assist the development and/or improvement of effective airworthiness and certification processes and documentation
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with UK MOD MAA certification processes (MRP 21) and similar civil European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) / Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Part 21 or European Military Airworthiness Requirements (EMAR 21), certification processes and associated Guidance Material is highly desirable
  • Experience with the use of requirements management tools such as DOORS® is highly desirable
  • Experience in the application of Def Stan 00-970, European Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria, EASA Certification Specifications, FAA Federal Aviation Regulations or other international standards for type certification and continued airworthiness of fixed wing air systems is extremely desirable
  • Specific platform/product or system experience and knowledge is highly desirable, along with thorough experience of UK MoD airworthiness policies, processes and culture
  • Previous industry or military service type airworthiness engineering experience is highly desirable

Boeing to factory-install SES multi-orbit connectivity on 737 and 787 aircraft

SES has reached a milestone with Boeing to offer its multi-orbit antenna as a line-fit connectivity solution on Boeing commercial aircraft. Boeing will install SES' in-cabin hardware network during factory production, starting with the 737 followed by the 787. The collaboration allows airlines to receive new aircraft with onboard network and connectivity service ready immediately after delivery. Boeing will install the complete in-cabin network and coordinate external equipment installation. SES' electronically steered array antenna system operates across both low-Earth orbit and geostationary satellite constellations, enabling global coverage and low-latency performance. The company has completed 500 installations and has 1,000 commitments in the pipeline for its multi-orbit system.

Defense contractors and oil companies profit from US-Iran war as gas prices surge past $4

As the US-Israel war with Iran enters its fifth week, American defence contractors and oil companies are reaping substantial profits whilst consumers face surging petrol prices approaching $4 per gallon. Boeing core stage powers NASA's Artemis II crew around the moon

Boeing's core stage for NASA's Space Launch System successfully powered the Artemis II mission, lifting off at 6:35pm ET on 1 April 2026. The rocket carried NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen on a 10-day lunar journey aboard the Orion spacecraft Integrity. The 212-foot core stage, manufactured at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, features liquid oxygen and hydrogen tanks and four RS-25 engines producing 2.2 million pounds of thrust. Eight and a half minutes into flight, the core stage completed its mission and separated from the upper stage. Boeing is currently preparing core stages for Artemis III to V missions at Michoud and Kennedy Space Center, using components from suppliers across 38 states.

Boeing expects Q1 2026 loss of $0.60/share amid China trade tensions
