Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Five years of relevant experience is required.
  • Final candidates must successfully complete a background check; a drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process.
Responsibilities
  • Direct, lead, and manage all fiscal affairs for the Department of Pathology and its clinical practice plan.
  • Direct and preserve the established financial and operational processing environment and ensure adherence to internal controls, fiscal policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and periodically evaluate long-term financial plans, objectives, and department fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Advise the Department Administrator, Department Chair, and practice group Board of Managers on strategic and operational financial matters.
  • Oversee planning and preparation for, and participate in, internal and external audits.
  • Serve as fiscal liaison to the College of Medicine and Ohio State University Physicians and Faculty Group Practice.
  • Develop, implement, and administer annual academic, earnings, and practice plan budgets.
  • Oversee and control operating, endowment, development, salary recovery, and research start-up funds.
  • Manage contracts and agreements, billing, accounts receivable, and accounting activities and administration.
  • Review and authorize expenditures, journal entries, income, and transfers.
  • Analyze, interpret, and reconcile financial reports; identify discrepancies and determine resolutions.
  • Review pathology research funds and provide financial analysis of potential or actual project overruns.
  • Develop and present quarterly financial reports to department leadership and the clinical practice group managers' board.
  • Serve as liaison with the central business office for departmental patient accounts receivable, including main accounts receivable and OSU Histology Lab LLC.
  • Initiate monthly invoices for Part A and URL Part B and oversee preparation of contract income, patient revenue, and practice plan budgets.
  • Oversee and manage faculty compensation, including base salaries, incentives, research bonuses, annual merit compensation, and supplemental compensation.
  • Prepare annual faculty salary budgets by rank and collaborate with the Department Chair and Administrator on faculty compensation and salary adjustments.
  • Review, determine, and prepare release-time calculations.
  • Develop, prepare, and monitor research metrics and prepare the faculty productivity model for department leadership review.
  • Monitor and review clinical faculty logging records.
  • Participate in overall department management and serve as Department Administrator in the administrator's absence.
  • Participate in short- and long-term strategic planning and provide financial recommendations for pathology outreach initiatives.
  • Oversee OSU Pathology Services payables and receivables, approve cash and investment transfers, and oversee the financial performance of OSU Histology Lab LLC.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate fiscal support staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Eight to twelve years of relevant experience is preferred.
