Responsibilities
  • Perform all functions of a Personal Banker.
  • Identify customer needs and expectations through listening and meaningful conversations, and expand customer relationships through referrals.
  • Open new deposit accounts and understand the features, benefits, rules, regulations, and pricing of the bank’s financial services.
  • Handle stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions within assigned limits.
  • Process consumer loans from start to finish and pursue a lending goal.
  • Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially within established limits and customer service standards.
  • Explain policies and procedures to customers.
  • Resolve customer problems and complaints and direct difficult problems to appropriate sources for assistance.
  • Follow branch security and audit procedures and understand the operation of security devices.
  • Ensure branch records, reports, and correspondence resulting from customer development efforts are correct, timely, and properly distributed.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance and an orderly, attractive workstation.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with the job function in accordance with SouthState compliance requirements and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Develop an understanding of customer-facing technology and discuss and enroll customers in self-service options.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with supervisory functions during the Branch Manager’s absence when needed.
  • Approve teller transactions within increased approval limits and sign off on checks.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in branches with more than one Financial Services Representative when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SouthState Bank launches government contractor banking vertical, hires former MartinFed CEO

SouthState Bank has launched a Government Contractor Banking vertical and appointed David Mathis as director to lead the initiative. Mathis brings nearly a decade of experience from MartinFederal Consulting, where he served as CEO before successfully selling the company this year. He also has 25 years of commercial banking experience focused on the government contracting industry. The new vertical will support companies working with federal agencies across SouthState's nine-state footprint, offering services including financing, treasury management, capital markets and mergers and acquisitions advice. SouthState president Richard Murray noted the bank's presence in regions with military bases and operations supporting NASA, the Department of Justice and the Department of Energy.

SouthState Bank raises dividend 10%, reports $230M Q2 net income with 11% loan growth

SouthState Bank Corporation reported second quarter 2026 results with net income of $230 million and diluted earnings per share of $2.35, up 11% year over year. The bank's chief executive officer, John C. Corbett, highlighted solid loan growth, stable net interest margin, and improved asset quality. Loans increased by $1.4 billion, or 11% annualised, compared to the prior quarter, whilst deposits grew by $474 million, or 3% annualised. Net interest income reached $576 million, up $14 million from the previous quarter. Net charge-offs totalled $8 million, or 0.06% of average loans. The board of directors increased the quarterly cash dividend from $0.60 to $0.66 per share, payable on 14 August 2026. Tangible book value per share rose to $58.72, representing a 13% year-over-year increase.

UMB Financial tops regional banks in Q1 as SouthState misses revenue estimates
