Requirements
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using a 10-key.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to deal effectively with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts in a hotel operating seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands for handling and reaching.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds; lifting up to 75 pounds may be required.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and follow dress-code and uniform standards.
Responsibilities
  • Run audit reports and journals from the front office system, point-of-service system, and computer.
  • Make corrections and adjustments and handle computer problems occurring throughout the shift.
  • Post and balance room and restaurant charges, including adjustments and settlements.
  • Verify and reconcile cash, credit card, check, and other financial transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Identify and resolve financial discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with next-day operations by resetting systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with front-desk and restaurant teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide prompt and accurate responses to guest inquiries and resolve complaints within guidelines.
  • Complete reservations, check-ins, check-outs, upgrades, room moves, billing, cash and credit card transactions, switchboard operations, guest-request deliveries, safe-deposit-box deliveries, and guest follow-up.
  • Greet customers, listen to their requests, provide accurate information, and take appropriate action.
  • Complete guest registration by entering and retrieving information, confirming guest and room-rate details, selecting rooms, coding electronic keys, and providing welcome materials.
  • Promote and administer hotel marketing programs for arriving guests.
  • Answer telephone and email inquiries, enter messages into the computer, communicate special guest needs, and retrieve mail, packages, facsimiles, and other requested items.
  • Monitor guest accounts and room inventory.
  • Ensure rooms and services are correctly reflected on guest statements and assist with checkout payments and charges.
  • Accept and record vouchers, credit, traveler’s checks, and other forms of payment.
  • Use Property Management Systems, including OPERA, MGS, and GXP.
  • Complete assigned checklists and shift reports accurately.
  • Process lost-and-found items, including database entry, guest outreach, and shipping.
  • Maintain the house bank and operate the cash register without error.
  • Provide guests with recommendations about local recreation, dining, cultural activities, and attractions.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized workstation and lobby area.
  • Assist other departments and complete miscellaneous assigned tasks.
  • Follow safety and emergency guidelines, policies, procedures, and front-desk best practices.
