Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • At least one year of experience interacting with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • A favorable background check result is required.
  • Proof of identity and the right to work in the United States is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
  • Ability to work required business hours, including possible weekends, schedule changes, and extended schedules, is required.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items up to 25 pounds, is required.
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of the hands are required.
  • Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate patient flow.
  • Assist the doctor with preliminary testing.
  • Verify medical and vision insurance.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and managers.
  • Answer inquiries by phone, email, and in person.
  • Support the optometrist in providing patient care and preparing patients for examinations.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
  • Operate a manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field equipment, GDX, or OCT.
  • Follow testing-equipment scripts for photographs, visual fields, visual acuity, and related testing.
  • Clean examination equipment, including the tonometer tip.
  • Perform general office duties and cleaning assigned by the manager.
  • Work collaboratively with employees at all levels in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintain availability for business needs, including weekends, schedule changes, and extended schedules.
  • Occasionally drive or climb as necessary to perform job duties.
  • Travel to other locations when required to carry out essential job duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous medical office experience is preferred.
  • Previous ophthalmic experience is strongly preferred.
