Data Scientist II, Analytics

The InsurTech team at Expedia is responsible for managing the InsurTech P&L and driving its strategy and business development efforts across the Expedia Group globally. We deliver millions of dollars of incremental revenue making a direct and meaningful impact to the company’s bottom-line. We power and deliver product analytics, user behavior analysis, experimentation, and visualization services that enable highly tailored and optimized experiences using the scientific methods and applied insights. We’re looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team to help us formulate business strategy and to deliver impactful analytics insights. In this role, you will use your analytical and business skills to inspire product, engineering, finance and customer support, and our strategic partners to prioritize, implement and scale our product ideas
In this role, you will:
Provide strategic analysis and insights for the InsurTech business, while actively looking for opportunities to grow the business
Own end to end process in designing and running experiments (A/B tests); proactively see opportunities and recommend new feature for test and learn; proactively uncover opportunities and recommend new features for test and learn; evaluate and apply alternative methods to supplement randomized testing
Performs advanced statistical analyses on experimental data to identify trends and derive actionable insights
Apply your expertise in data modeling, quantitative analysis, data mining, data visualization with a goal of improving customer experience and business results with a religious focus on impactful analytics, steward product team to drive insights
A high performing individual contributor who consistently applies and enhances the analytics capabilities, best practices and processes to solve complex business issues and identify opportunities
Work with multiple stakeholders, manage product analytics projects, and operate within a community of analysts, sharing findings, wins and methodologies
Effectively communicates statistical findings and insights to stakeholders and collaborate
Contribute to tracking measures of success and supporting metrics, build accurate and easy to consume dashboards/reports
Collaborate with the product teams in goal setting, opportunity sizing, product performance review and strategy planning
Structure problems, extract and analyze data, and present the findings to corporate leadership and internal stakeholders
Apply your knowledge with Python, or R, or any other major ML programming language to generate insights and solve business problems using ML
Experience and qualifications:
3+ years of experience in data mining, statistical modelling, and data analysis, preferably in ecommerce industry, with at least Bachelor’s in mathematics, engineering, science, statistics or technical degree
Strong analytical/modeling skills with ability to convert raw data into measurable insights
Expertise working with large data sets and proficiency in SQL, Excel
Experience in at least one programming language (R/Python)
Experience in statistical analysis and A/B testing, predictive modeling, computational systems, and optimization techniques
Experience with digital analytics tools such as, Adobe Analytics, and experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI
Experience with web analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics a plus
Intermediate (or better) knowledge of Statistics
Able to structure / work on data exploration problems, with innovative ways and solutions, bringing to bear strong reporting and data visualization skills
Excellent verbal, written, and data visualization skills
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
