Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience as a Bid Writer or Senior Bid Writer is required.
  • A demonstrable track record of successfully securing major contracts through high-quality bid submissions is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style, are required.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines, are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders are required.
  • A strategic, proactive, and results-oriented approach is required.
  • Understanding of public procurement processes and frameworks, including PQQ, ITT, and RFQ, within the United Kingdom construction market is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide lead author and bid-writing services on forthcoming PQQs and tenders, subject to the timely release of client documents.
  • Ensure responses are produced to a high standard and quality, fully answer each question, and follow the applicable scoring criteria.
  • Engage effectively with subject matter experts to gather response information and evidence and ensure adherence to internal and client deadlines.
  • Read and understand the full suite of client documents associated with each PQQ or tender.
  • Challenge content provided by subject matter experts appropriately and escalate under-delivery to the appropriate person within the bid team.
  • Optimise responses to achieve the highest marks possible.
  • Work closely with bid directors, business development directors, bid managers, technical leads, and field specialists to develop key messages, themes, approaches, and innovative or value-added concepts.
  • Work with external specialists and writers and directly with clients when required.
  • Support business development tasks, including business-development marketing collateral and master case-study or evidence-gathering activities.
  • Analyse requirements and ensure that all proposals meet them.
  • Coordinate and lead the technical aspects of the bid process, including development, outlining, draft preparation, review scheduling, and tracking completion of team assignments.
  • Assist with maintaining a database of standard proposal responses.
  • Contribute intelligence about clients and competitors to support project pursuits.
  • Assist in ensuring that all bidding qualifications are in place and maintained.
  • Effectively catalogue department information, templates, databases, and generic information.
