Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an engineering role involving materials, processes, or manufacturing is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • At least 2 years of project management experience is required.
  • Computer software skills including SolidWorks, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, statistical analysis, and report preparation are required.
  • Familiarity with high-volume metallic-parts manufacturing operations and equipment, including metal forming and drawing, is required.
  • A thorough understanding and broad application of technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques is required.
  • Strong mathematical, problem-solving, written communication, verbal communication, organizational, project management, and teamwork skills are required.
  • Ability to perform at a high level with minimal supervision and direction is required.
  • Ability to work with technical materials and blueprints, perform calculations and conversions, reason through problems, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and communicate with vendors and internal associates is required.
  • Ability to work in or around manufacturing areas with noise, mechanical, pressurized, electrical, flammable, explosive, moving, fume, odor, dirt, and dust hazards is required, with safety training provided.
Responsibilities
  • Execute major capital and non-capital project initiatives supporting factory operations.
  • Perform project management assignments involving capital-expenditure justification, equipment and process design and development, project spending, execution timing, resource management, and project closeout.
  • Develop improvements to tooling and processes for existing products by changing specifications and supervising special product-improvement tests.
  • Introduce new products and the tools used to manufacture them with Product Development, assist in establishing manufacturing specifications and procedures, and direct special tests or limited production runs for standardization.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities through improved material utilization, increased machine and process efficiency, and reduced cost of poor quality.
  • Review tooling and perishable machine-part drawings for tolerances, surface finishes, dimensions, and material selection, and initiate Engineering Change Orders when justified.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot production material difficulties and recommend or implement corrective measures.
  • Represent the organization as a technical contact on projects, interact with senior personnel on important technical matters, and coordinate between organizations.
  • Identify and qualify new materials and suppliers, ensure performance requirements are met while reducing costs, document results, and perform Engineering Change Orders on applicable documentation.
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analyses, identify failure modes, and address issues with potentially significant impact.
  • Provide work direction to associates working on assigned projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master of Science in Engineering and/or a Master of Business Administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Six Sigma tools and techniques and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Small-caliber ammunition manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with tooling, tolerancing, and materials for metal forming and drawing using punches, dies, and progressive die sets.
  • Experience with new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
  • Computer-aided design training.
  • Statistical problem-solving experience, such as Design of Experiments using Minitab.
  • Experience installing and maintaining automated systems, including programming.

Now, TKG is announcing once again that they have secured a rifle ammunition contract with the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) for 4 types of rifle ammo. Federal @ TFB: For this most recent contract with the FBI, Federal was able to secure three categories of ammunition while Remington was able to win one. The contract is valued at $77.4 million.
