Requirements
  • The PhD is required; however ABD applicants who anticipate completion of the doctorate by Fall 2026 will also be considered.
  • Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Women’s and Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies, or other cognate interdisciplinary fields; candidates with PhDs in other social science and humanities disciplines with designated emphases in the areas outlined above will also be considered.
  • Expertise in critical race feminisms with an emphasis in one or more of the following fields: abolitionism, international political economy, and/or feminist approaches to law, rights, and policy.
  • Ability to teach introduction level courses in Women’s and Gender Studies and upper division courses in the applicant’s area of expertise.
  • Ability to contribute to one or more of the department’s affiliated interdisciplinary minors, particularly Disability Studies and LGBTQ Studies; teaching and research in these areas is valued.
  • The PhD is required; ABD will be considered if anticipated completion by Fall 2026.
  • Applicants must show promise in both research and teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability in scholarship, teaching, and service may be considered.
  • Applicants must submit: cover letter addressing research and teaching experience, curriculum vitae, a writing sample; three letters of recommendation.
Responsibilities
  • Teach introduction level courses in Women’s and Gender Studies as well as upper division courses in the applicant’s area of expertise.
  • Engage in research and scholarship in the applicant’s field.
  • Contribute to the department’s affiliated interdisciplinary minors, particularly Disability Studies and LGBTQ Studies, through teaching, mentoring, and program development.
  • Participate in service activities within the department and university as appropriate.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to contribute to the department’s affiliated interdisciplinary minors, particularly Disability Studies and LGBTQ Studies, in teaching and research (preferred but not strictly required).
  • Experience or training in inclusive pedagogy and diversity, social justice-focused teaching methods (valued but not strictly required).
