Occupational Safety and Health Coding Analyst @ ERG

Salary Range: 52000 to 72000 (Currency: USD) (Pay period: per-year-salary)

ERG is seeking a curious, highly motivated analyst with strong collaboration, communication, and time-management skills for an immediate opening as an entry- or mid-level occupational health data analyst coding severe injury/illness records using the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS 3.02) to characterize the work-related injury or illness incident.

This work requires thoughtful, independent judgment with speed and accuracy while utilizing a complex, hierarchical coding structure
Experience with this type of structured coding system (e.g., OIICS, ICD coding) is preferred
However, training related specifically to the OIICS 3.02 coding will be provided
You will also review the work-related severe injury/illness records to compile an incident narrative that conveys the details of the incident in a clear, concise manner
This position offers the flexibility of working from home, if desired, and will include some team collaboration

Qualifications and Skills:

BS degree in communications, health or environmental science, or a related field
Background in medical coding or billing
0 to 8 years of related experience or interest in occupational safety and health and/or related health field
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills (oral and written) with exceptional attention to detail
Outstanding time-management and organizational skills
Ability to work remotely and independently to accomplish assignments in a timely manner
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet various project demands
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
Willingness and ability to learn new software and technical skills as required
