What You’ll Do as a Mid-Senior Cloud Architect

You will work directly with the DevOps lead to evaluate, design, implement, and manage Car IQ’s cloud infrastructure, as well as defend and respond to internal and external security threats to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Design scalable and cost-effective cloud architectures, taking into account factors such as high availability, security, and performance.
• Oversee the deployment and management of cloud infrastructure, including containers/virtual machines, databases, networking resources, etc.
• Implement robust security measures to protect data and applications, including identity and access management, secrets management, encryption, and compliance (PCI especially). 
• Work with our CISO on establishing disaster recovery procedures and conducting security breach drills. 
• Continuously optimize cloud resources to maximize cost-efficiency while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Participate in on-call production support rotation
• Develop project timelines for service upgrades and patching.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve quality and efficiency around delivery pipelines.
•  Implement/maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture and processes.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations.

Skills and Experience:

• Proven leadership experience as a Cloud Architect, with a minimum of 3 years in cloud architecture and design.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of security principles related to networking and systems.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the best practices surrounding always-on, always available services.
• Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
• Experience managing CI/CD tooling and processes.
• Experience implementing and troubleshooting container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance is a huge plus.
• General familiarity with DevOps best practices and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Salary Range: $140,000- $220,000 dependent on skills, experience, and more.
