Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required for Practical Nursing Program faculty.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the minimum for Nursing, ASN, PN, or LPN-to-RN program faculty when the instructor is currently enrolled in a graduate nursing program and making progress toward completion.
  • The instructor must hold a current, unencumbered registered nurse license; Nursing program faculty must hold a current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license or a compact-state license recognized in Indiana.
  • The instructor must have at least two years of direct patient-care experience, including at least two years of direct patient-care experience as a registered nurse for Nursing program faculty.
  • Selected candidates are subject to pre-employment background checks, including a criminal history check, and employment offers are contingent on the outcome.
  • The position requires availability for day, evening, and weekend classes when courses are scheduled.
Responsibilities
  • Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals.
  • Provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.
  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide students with a syllabus appropriate to the courses being taught and follow the syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy and the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines.
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance.
  • Address student concerns and consult with the program coordinator when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted courses.
  • Use technology such as Canvas and PowerPoint as appropriate.
  • Notify the program or department chair in the event of an emergency absence.
  • Conduct all activities with appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views, and promote this as an integral part of the work.
  • Support the College’s mission and strategic plan initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) is preferred for lead or lecture faculty.
  • A Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) is preferred for Nursing, ASN, PN, or LPN-to-RN program faculty.
  • Clinical teaching assignments may require specific expertise in the specialty area, such as pediatrics, medical-surgical nursing, obstetrics, or psychiatric or mental health nursing.
