Requirements
  • Obtain and maintain a high school diploma.
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or complete an equivalent program.
  • Have at least one year of experience in a physician’s office or hospital.
  • Hold current basic life support certification or complete the course within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Demonstrate administrative skills, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and greeting patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Manage time effectively and maintain cleanliness while adhering to protocols.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Use Athena Electronic Health Record or a similar Electronic Health Record system proficiently.
  • Speak Spanish and English.
  • Stand and walk during various tasks.
  • Perform a full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients.
  • Demonstrate manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
  • Measure and fit patients for compression stockings and assist with putting them on.
  • Take before-and-after pictures of patients.
  • Stock rooms appropriately.
  • Clean and prepare rooms for procedures.
  • Assist with room and tray setup for patient procedures.
  • Assist registered nurses and physician assistants in preparing medications and filling syringes as permitted by state law.
  • Issue pre- and post-procedure instructions and prescriptions to patients and ensure their compliance and understanding.
  • Coordinate day-to-day clinic traffic and scheduling to maintain patient flow.
  • Maintain autoclave spore compliance records.
  • Assist with medical supply inventory management, including ordering, receiving, organizing, and scanning supplies in and out.
  • Maintain accurate and current supply information in medical management software.
  • Maintain patient-record privacy and confidentiality according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day clinic issues.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Apply working knowledge of managed care basics and work with managed care and Medicare populations.
  • Assist in training new staff on policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties delegated by the team lead, registered nurse, physician, or practice manager.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives to gain proficiency in various clinic functions.
  • Provide coverage for other clinics as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members across clinics to maintain a cohesive work environment.
  • Pursue continuous learning and skill development to improve clinic efficiency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant is preferred.
