Requirements
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and determine when and what maintenance is needed.
  • Determine causes of operating errors and decide how to resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and maintain landscaping accurately and efficiently.
  • Recognize and follow safety and security procedures, report unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to select solutions and solve problems.
  • Use computer technology to access data and communicate with others.
  • Maintain written equipment maintenance records.
  • Communicate with individuals within and outside the Dallas College community.
  • Provide effective customer service.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of Dallas College critical infrastructure.
  • Have two years of related experience.
  • Work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. workday, including nights and weekends.
  • Hold a current and valid Texas driver's license for offsite travel.
  • Complete required Dallas College professional development training hours per academic year.
Responsibilities
  • Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance using hand-powered tools and equipment.
  • Plant, trim, lay sod, water, and mow areas around college buildings and facilities, and maintain landscaping equipment.
  • Operate light to moderately heavy equipment for landscape maintenance, including trimming, mowing, watering grass and shrubs, pruning, and grounds maintenance.
  • Plant and transplant trees, shrubs, and flowers; sod grass; plant seed; pull weeds; and spray fertilizer and insecticides.
  • Report equipment repair problems to the Facility Manager.
  • Pick up litter from campus pavement and grounds.
  • Perform landscaping maintenance across Dallas College locations, including mowing, edging, and litter control.
  • Maintain assigned equipment.
  • Work with facilities teammates to provide customer service and safe, healthy grounds for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist other facilities management teams as required.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
