Requirements
  • Understand fabrication concepts, practices, and procedures within the welding field.
  • Have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Have a basic knowledge of the Metric and Imperial Measurement Systems and how to calculate with them.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED; additional education or an apprenticeship is desired.
  • Have 2-5+ years of previous welding and metal fabrication experience, including interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to determine the appropriate welding process.
  • Have 2-5+ years of experience and knowledge of MIG, TIG, spool gun, or push-pull welding applications.
  • Have good math skills with an understanding of numerical data and accurate measurements.
  • Must have good communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Must be a United States citizen and meet all Federal Contractor employee requirements.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear, and occasionally sit.
  • Must have the physical stamina to work in awkward positions, stand for long periods, bend, stoop, and lift.
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 20 feet.
  • Must frequently lift or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds; loads above 50 pounds require two people.
  • Must have close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.
  • Must follow safety requirements, including use of OSHA-approved eye protection and safety hearing devices when required, and follow chemical safety rules outlined by the applicable safety data sheet.
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and weld metal and aluminum using appropriate MIG, TIG, spool gun, and push-pull welding techniques.
  • Fabricate according to computer-aided design drawings, using experience and judgment to accomplish tasks.
  • Maintain proficiency while avoiding rework, and complete additional training to improve skill and accuracy.
  • Cross-train and work on varied processes, including flooring installation, electrical systems, plumbing, door and window installation, stabilizing systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, cabinet and countertop making, welding, and technology integration.
  • Work under general supervision.
