  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • One to two years of relevant experience is required.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Medication Administration training or certification must meet state requirements.
  • Candidates must meet all health requirements.
  • Experience as a caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant certification must meet state requirements.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Candidates must communicate clearly and effectively and have sufficient English-language proficiency to read, write, and communicate.
  • Candidates must be able to continuously walk and stand, work inside and outside, sit infrequently, climb stairs frequently, bend, squat, twist or rotate, and reach frequently.
  • Candidates must be able to lift, carry, and push loads ranging from 0–10 pounds constantly, 11–50 pounds frequently, and 51–100 pounds occasionally.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medication assistance and personal care to community residents according to organizational guidelines.
  • Complete care-service documentation according to organizational standards.
  • Participate in narcotic counts at shift changes and accurately document inventory counts.
  • Administer medication as directed while complying with the Rights of Medication Administration.
  • Participate in weekly medication cart audits as assigned.
  • Reorder medications promptly and fax new medication orders to the pharmacy to obtain medications accurately and promptly.
  • Inform families when mail-order medicines need to be reordered.
  • Follow the Physician Order Protocol when processing orders.
  • Document and report resident changes in condition or status according to policy.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining resident charts in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in community wellness programs as assigned.
  • Obtain and record residents’ temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and weight as directed.
  • Observe residents for responses to specified medications and prepare incident reports or notify designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
  • Answer call lights promptly and attend to unanticipated resident needs as soon as possible.
  • Address associate, family, and resident concerns appropriately.
  • Follow the community’s fire evacuation and disaster policies and participate in drills as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents’ and staff members’ pertinent personal and health information.
  • Complete mandatory compliance, HIPAA, and state and federal regulatory training.
  • Oversee resident aides during the assigned shift and ensure assigned tasks are completed by care-team members.
  • Attend required training courses, maintain required recurring training through the Learning Management System, and attend all required staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties related to the success of the community and resident care.
