Requirements
  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required.
  • The candidate must be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
  • Prior Social Security Administration representation experience is preferred but not required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong writing, communication, time management, analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must be committed to disability rights and client-centered advocacy.
Responsibilities
  • Represent clients before the Social Security Administration at the Initial Application, Reconsideration, Administrative Law Judge hearing, and Appeals Council levels.
  • Draft legal briefs, memoranda, and Appeals Council letters.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers to prepare Electronic Records Express submissions and ensure timely acquisition of records.
  • Maintain consistent client communication with empathy and professionalism.
  • Monitor filing deadlines, hearing schedules, and appeals using Prevail and Electronic Records Express systems.
  • Participate in weekly department meetings and attorney strategy sessions.
  • Work closely with the supervising attorney on complex matters and receive structured mentorship.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior Social Security Administration representation experience.
  • The option to participate in Federal United States District Court work over time.
