Requirements
  • Earned Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pathophysiology and pharmacology.
  • Unencumbered, active license as a registered nurse in South Carolina or another compact state.
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or the Military Training Network.
  • Recent (2-3 years) of patient care and/or supervision of students in didactic/clinical settings.
  • If the candidate does not have an earned doctoral degree and is not currently enrolled in a doctoral program, they must be enrolled in a doctoral program within 2 years of hire.
  • A record of teaching, scholarship, practice that merits the rank of instructor or above.
  • This is not a remote work position, so candidates must relocate to Charleston upon hire if they do not live locally.
Responsibilities
  • Teach students in the baccalaureate programs via didactic instruction
  • Supervise pre-licensure students in clinical settings, skills lab, and the simulation center
  • Curriculum/program planning, development, and evaluation
  • Facilitate and implement evidence based innovative teaching strategies in classroom and clinical settings
  • Adheres to MUSC and College of Nursing Policies
  • Maintains proficiency as an educator
  • Design and implementation of pathopharmacology content and responsibility for development and measurement of pathophysiology and pharmacology competencies in prelicensure nursing students.
Desired Qualifications
  • The preferred candidate will have a doctoral degree in nursing or related field; recent experience teaching didactic courses face-to-face as well as online; recent experience teaching clinical nursing courses focusing on critical thinking and clinical judgement; recent experience with developing course syllabi, lectures and learning assessments; and experience in facilitating and debriefing simulation.
  • Recent experience teaching didactic pathophysiology and/or pharmacology content is preferred.
  • Additional experience in psychiatric/mental health teaching and/or clinical expertise is preferred.
