Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • 4-6 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer III.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience for Nuclear Engineer III.
  • Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer for Senior Nuclear Engineer.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience for Senior Nuclear Engineer.
Responsibilities
  • Perform and review neutronic analyses of nuclear fuel assemblies and fuel cycle designs.
  • Perform nuclear design safety calculations and generate operational predictions.
  • Manage project teams through the reload design process.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Develop, qualify, and maintain computer codes used in nuclear design analysis.
  • Provide fleet support to site reactor engineering teams and manage core monitoring software.
  • Collaborate/interface with Duke, industry, vendor, and regulatory personnel.
  • Participate in technical training activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with neutronics codes, (e.g., ANC, PRISM, PANACEA, MICROBURN, and/or equivalents) and especially the Studsvik code package (CASMO/SIMULATE).
  • Experience with nuclear fuel and PWR fuel cycle design analyses.
  • Experience with PWR reactor engineering and core monitoring activities.
  • Experience with development and support of License Amendment Requests and 50.59 Evaluations.
  • Familiarity with the basic systems of a Westinghouse NSSS reactor.
  • Project management experience.
  • Unix and/or Linux workstation experience.
  • Computer programming experience (FORTRAN/Python/VBA/etc.).

Storm-related outages across the company's service territory have decreased from nearly 97,000 to approximately 1,000PLAINFIELD, Ind., April 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Duke Energy has restored power for more than 98% of its customers affected by power outages across Indiana as of 9 a.m. ET Friday. Crews will continue with restoration efforts in the areas hardest hit by high winds, tornadoes and significant rainfall from Wednesday's severe weather.In total, storm-related power outages across the company's service territory have decreased from nearly 97,000 to approximately 1,000 – now largely concentrated in Clark and Floyd counties – as of 9 a.m. ET Friday."We've made a lot of progress, but we have to finish strong and do it safely.
