Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in science (physical, life, or health), a healthcare profession such as nursing or pharmacy, or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in clinical development, clinical trials regulatory affairs, quality assurance supporting those areas, or with a regulatory authority is required.
  • Detailed knowledge of quality systems and auditing standards is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of worldwide clinical regulatory requirements, industry best practices, quality management principles, global and regional regulations, and internationally recognized standards such as ICH and ISO is required.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing, and listening skills are required, including the ability to manage difficult conversations and seek alignment.
  • The ability to manage complex issues, distill information, identify risks proactively, and assess and manage business and compliance risks effectively is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Americas Clinical Quality Audit team to deliver the Clinical Audit strategy and assure the quality and compliance of AbbVie clinical trials and studies in the region.
  • Assure quality and compliance in a regulated environment, including AbbVie policies and procedures, country-specific requirements, applicable standards, and worldwide regulations.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Clinical Audit Team and ensure alignment with RDQA policies and procedures.
  • Advance the AbbVie Quality System through collaboration with business partners and other GxP RDQA functions and implement systems and processes supporting global quality assurance requirements.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams by creating an inclusive environment, developing people, setting clear expectations, and coaching employees for performance success.
  • Lead and develop Clinical Auditors in the Americas in the development and execution of all clinical audit types.
  • Contribute to the global Clinical Audit strategy as a member of the Clinical Audit Leadership Team and drive its implementation at the Americas level.
  • Provide leadership and strategic insight to the risk-based clinical audit program, execute complex audits, and work with auditees to resolve identified non-compliance.
  • Lead innovative quality strategies and solutions with business partners and other GxP RDQA functions to address compliance issues and questions effectively and promptly.
  • Drive continuous improvement of quality and clinical systems by leading or supporting implementation initiatives that assure compliance with regulations and corporate policies.
  • Analyze and evaluate processes supporting clinical development to assure quality and compliance.
  • Drive results for self and staff by providing direction, establishing stretch goals and assignments, communicating expectations, and maintaining dialogue about work assignments and results.
  • Provide expert advice and support on clinical regulations, guidance, and expectations to RDQA and business colleagues.
  • Provide strategic input to the inspection support model and support GCP inspections onsite or remotely when needed.
  • Promote continuous education on quality and clinical guidelines and regulations for self and other AbbVie staff.
