Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing high voltage electrical substations or industrial structures and foundations
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering is required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
  • Strong background in structural design software (SAP2000 and Risa3D)
  • Shallow and deep foundation design software (MFAD, LPile, Dimensional Solutions, and Risa Foundation)
  • Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Must have a clean driving record as use of company vehicles is a requirement of the position
Responsibilities
  • Designs and interprets drawings for substation structures, foundations, overhead lines, lightning protection systems, aluminum bus systems, underground pipe networks, and grading
  • Reviews drawings for substation equipment, vendor supplied equipment and customer standards
  • Ensures compliance with customer specifications and design codes
  • Problem solves issues related to design, construction, and compliance
  • Answers technical questions posed by construction managers, field staff, customers, and their representatives
  • Recognizes and recommends methods to improve every customer’s experience
  • Travels occasionally to both customer offices for project meetings and to job sites for construction visits
