Requirements
  • A Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in at least one United States jurisdiction are required.
  • Five to nine years of technology transactions experience in a business-to-business software-as-a-service environment are required.
  • In-house legal experience is required.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly with commercial agreements such as master services agreements, order forms, data processing agreements, and nondisclosure agreements, are required.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of customer-side negotiations, including reviewing and redlining customer paper and bespoke terms, is required.
  • Experience supporting sales teams and understanding their timelines and pressures is required.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate complex matters is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders, are required.
  • Proven ability to balance legal risk management with business objectives is required.
  • Comfort working under pressure, particularly during month-end closing periods, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Directly enable revenue growth by keeping deals moving with speed and sound judgment.
  • Strengthen commercial legal processes by contributing to playbooks, templates, and self-serve resources that scale with the business.
  • Build trust with sales and customer success teams as a reliable, business-minded legal partner.
  • Help shape how the company uses its own product in day-to-day commercial legal work.
  • Manage a high volume of customer-side negotiations, including reviewing and redlining customer paper and bespoke terms.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including master services agreements, order forms, data processing agreements, and nondisclosure agreements.
  • Support sales teams through deal cycles while understanding their timelines and quarter-end pressures.
  • Work independently across the full range of commercial matters while knowing when to escalate complex issues.
  • Explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders across sales, product, and customer success.
  • Balance legal risk management with business objectives to maintain deal velocity.
  • Contribute to developing scalable legal processes, templates, and playbooks for go-to-market teams.
  • Support vendor-side contracting as needed.
  • Take on additional projects and tasks as needed in response to the evolving needs of a fast-growing startup.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience at a high-growth startup or scale-up company.
  • Experience at a large law firm in a technology group.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, machine learning, or legal technology sectors.
  • Privacy certification such as CIPP/US or CIPP/E, or substantive privacy experience.
  • Experience advising on artificial-intelligence-related legal issues.
  • Experience developing scalable legal processes, templates, or playbooks for go-to-market teams.
  • Vendor-side contracting experience.
  • Current use of the company's product.
