Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED; experience may offset this requirement.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet a Motor Vehicle Review in accordance with company policy.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required state commercial applicator certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an agricultural commercial driver's license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers and represent the company professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to read, count, and write, and to use technology to accurately complete documentation, including shipping and applicator orders and tickets, product labels, safety data sheets, warning signs, and emergency procedures.
  • Familiarity with crop chemicals, nutrients, farming practices, and crop characteristics.
  • Ability to use technology to accurately locate application sites and read field maps.
  • Ability to lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, perform preventive maintenance, and perform other physical duties required at an agricultural location.
  • Ability to regularly walk, stand, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, handle, feel, and grasp.
  • Availability for required overtime as seasonal workload demands.
Responsibilities
  • Apply dry fertilizer products and lime to customer crops safely and efficiently.
  • Use information supplied and application-equipment technology to apply the right products at the right rates to the right fields and customers.
  • Assist with mixing, loading, unloading, and transporting crop protection and fertilizer products.
  • Follow all laws, regulations, safety rules, and personal protective equipment requirements when handling and applying products.
  • Obtain and maintain state commercial applicator certification and remain current with its requirements.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections before field applications and post-application inspections.
  • Maintain safety equipment in optimum condition in applicator equipment and the immediate work area, following all safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain applicator and equipment logs and keep them up to date.
  • Perform required equipment calibration and preventive maintenance.
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines when rinsing and washing down equipment in the field and at the location.
  • Assist team members with physical duties necessary to operate an agricultural location.
  • Assist with operational scouting, product transportation, and various customer services.
  • Follow Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Department of Transportation policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships through product application and provide feedback about field conditions to customers and the location manager.
