Requirements
  • Two years of experience in security or loss prevention.
  • One year of experience in a similar role.
  • Previous hotel, law enforcement, or military experience is an asset.
  • Law enforcement proficiency certificates are an asset.
  • Previous guest relations training in hospitality is an asset.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is required.
  • High school graduation or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Knowledge of local laws, investigative methods, fire safety, and health and safety programs.
  • Ability to endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, including property patrols, walking, and stair climbing.
  • Ability to reach one to two feet.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for two to four hours throughout the work shift.
Responsibilities
  • Train and supervise house officers.
  • Monitor and patrol assigned areas to provide a safe environment for guests and employees and minimize opportunities for loss or damage.
  • Anticipate potential problems and react to disturbances and prohibited conduct.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of the correct maintenance and use of equipment and use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
  • Maintain positive guest relations.
  • Be familiar with hotel services and features and local attractions and activities to respond accurately to guest inquiries.
  • Resolve guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain awareness of scheduled group activities, house count, hours of operation, fire and emergency procedures, and the business continuity plan.
  • Notify local authorities when situations warrant.
  • Report and document guest or employee incidents.
  • Conduct health screening for employees, contractors, and visitors entering the property and provide contractor badges.
  • Issue radios and keys to designated hotel personnel, maintain accurate records, and ensure their safekeeping.
  • Inspect employee packages, purses, bags, and similar items as employees enter or leave the property.
  • Patrol the property, check designated points, and document all actions taken.
  • Coordinate emergency situations.
  • Investigate duress alarms and use applicable emergency codes.
  • Receive radio and telephone reports of emergencies, determine their nature, location, and priority, and dispatch emergency response and backup as necessary.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm panels and operate the fire alarm enunciator panel.
  • Maintain knowledge of controlled areas, officers on duty, building locations, emergency telephone numbers, and emergency service facilities and availability.
  • Resolve safety hazard situations.
  • Investigate suspicious persons on hotel property.
  • Investigate theft, lost items, noise complaints, assault complaints, food poisoning complaints, and other guest complaints, and complete documented reports.
  • Respond promptly to guest or employee accidents, administer first aid and CPR, and communicate required information to emergency medical personnel.
  • Handle intoxicated guests in compliance with state regulations and hotel guidelines.
  • Respond to vehicle accidents and thefts and document required information.
  • Coordinate the lost and found program, document and store items, record guest inquiries, and coordinate the return of lost items.
  • Supervise the entire Loss Prevention staff assigned to the shift.
  • Manage all fire alarms and emergencies within the property.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous hotel, law enforcement, or military experience.

  • Previous guest relations training in hospitality.
