Senior UX Engineer

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, researchers, and product managers to conceptualize and rapidly build a wide range of interactive prototypes—from low-fidelity explorations to more robust, internally scalable versions.
• Partner closely with UX Researchers to put prototypes in front of users, using feedback to challenge assumptions, validate ideas, and iteratively steer the development of new experiences.
• Identify opportunities and build AI-powered internal tools that enhance creativity, streamline workflows, and scale the impact of our UX teams.
• Stay at the forefront of the latest developments in generative AI models and technologies, and actively investigate how they can be applied to solve user problems and unlock new opportunities for YouTube.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to translate futuristic concepts into actionable steps, influencing product roadmaps and strategic decisions.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 6 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue), back-end development (e.g., Node.js, Python), and working with databases and cloud platforms (e.g., Firebase/Firestore, Google Cloud Platform) to create robust experiences that can support sustained internal and user testing.
• Experience with Generative AI technologies and models.
• Understanding of UX principles and a passion for user-centered design.
• Ability to quickly become functional with a new tech stack.
• Ability to creatively solve problems and build interactive experiences.
• Proficient in building full-stack interactive prototypes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
