Senior Roadway Engineer @ Lochmueller Group

Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Roadway/Highway Design team. We are looking for a technical expert who is passionate about roadway/highway design engineering, enhancing the quality of projects, and mentoring junior level staff.

Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure. We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services, but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local public agencies and state DOT’s.

In this position, the candidate will:

Design and guide the implementation of construction plans and specifications.
Manage project status with regards to the scope of services being provided by company staff and sub-consultants, as well as the project budget and the project schedule.
Organize the workflow within the assigned design team and take responsibility for the timely completion of the tasks assigned.
Report project status to immediate supervisor and/or management.
Perform verification that project designs are in conformance with the latest design specifications.
Perform quality control checks of work developed by junior staff and participate in firm-wide quality control initiatives.
Provide mentorship and development for junior staff.
Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules for contract development.
Coordinate with other departments and sub-consultants to allocate project scope and develop budget and schedule proposals.
May assist with business development efforts and prepare statements of qualifications and letters of interest.
As opportunities present themselves, this role may also be involved in other various responsibilities and projects.

Qualifications for this role:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
15+ years of experience performing as a project engineer or project manager on local agency and/or DOT roadway projects
Possesses advanced, specialized knowledge in roadway/highway design
Licensed Professional Engineer
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and mentor junior level staff
